September Events Round Up: It’s All About the Customer Experience
While September is back to school for many, it was also back to the road for others. Our teams attended a number of key communication industry events where we had the chance to connect in person with partners, customers and industry experts to discuss key challenges and learn about the latest solutions.
Held Sept. 12-14 14 in San Francisco, this was the inaugural Mobile World Congress Americas, where the GSMA partnered with CTIA to introduce the next-generation mobile event in America. The latest in mobile technology was showcased, including a few key Neustar initiatives — our work on trusted identity for mobile customer engagement, the Neustar Trust Lab collaboration with ATIS and other key industry partners in support of the FCC’s aim to stop unwanted robocalling, and the GSMA PathFinder global number look-up powered by Neustar that drives 20 billion customer interactions annually to enable global SMS, fraud detection and identity assurance. Our team had a lot of great discussions about ways to enhance the mobile communication experience to ensure that mobile connected devices continue to improve our daily lives and have positive impacts for both consumers and business. We’re sure next year’s MWC Americas in Los Angeles will be even bigger and better.
Brandify Summit 2017
On Sept. 15, our partner Brandify hosted their annual summit to create, innovate and connect with customers and partners. The agenda was packed with sessions on the future of local advertising, marketing, and helping large and small businesses with discoverability. Interesting discussions took place on a brand’s responsibility as a social business to ensure that connections deliver value to customers when leveraging location data. Neustar’s Colin Smith took part in a panel on optimizing local business presence. Here’s his takeaway on the importance of accurate and consistent local data and the customer experience, “Even if your information is inconsistent with the ecosystem, Google will wrongly take it as authoritative”.
The Place Conference
On Sept. 23 in New York, just a bit before Adweek, the Local Search Association hosted the Place Conference. This one-of-a-kind event focused on location intelligence, offline analytics and proximity marketing. With greater focus from multi-location enterprises, retailers and agency attendees on using location to connect with customers, attendees got practical information, first-hand case studies and tactical advice from location-leading marketers, brands and platforms. Neustar’s Lynne Brehmer shared her advice and personal experiences in RX for Retail. She advised retailers to connect online and offline and aim to deliver an easy, no-hassle experience. Lynne also recommended retailers trying new channels to engage customers through mobile.
The month ended with our team attending our partner MomentFeed’s annual client summit in Santa Monica on Sept. 27-29. Today’s top multi-location brands gathered here to learn about improving the mobile experience for their customers, what other leading brands are doing to increase revenue using mobile and how the top mobile networks can help. It was fascinating to note the similar challenges for brands in engaging consumers no matter what industry they focus on, from retail to financial services to healthcare. Lots of great lessons for brands to apply across all of these to capture their customers’ attention and provide the right experience.
Big thanks to our partners and industry groups for hosting these engaging events focused on improving customer experience, mobile engagement and local presence. We are looking forward to many more opportunities to learn, present and socialize with our incredible network of partners, customers, advisors and friends!
